Federico Bosio was born in Rovereto (TN), Italy, in 1991. His first musical instrument was the piano that played for only one year when he was 6. He then switched to the French horn when he was 8 and eventually began playing classical guitar when he was 10. He studied classical guitar in a local music school for 4 years, then switching to the electric guitar influenced by the Beatles. After starting playing the electric guitar he continued playing it by himself without a teacher, influenced by Simon & Garfunkel, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Bee Gees and Led Zeppelin.
At 17 he decided to take music lessons again and enrolled in a modern music school for two years. In this period his listenings where still focused on rock and pop music, like AC/DC, Queen, Joe Satriani, Guns n roses, and Italian songwriters like Lucio Battisti and Claudio Baglioni, while at the same time discovering classical music through his parents, both classical piano teachers. His classical listenings were mainly focused on composers like Chopin, Ravel, Debussy, Stravinsky and Gershwin.
He started getting into jazz in 2010, when he was 19, influenced at first by the music of Pat Metheny, Weather Report, Oregon, and then discovering more traditional jazz like Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis and Sonny Rollins. After three years of jazz in a music school in his hometown Federico decided to enroll in Siena Jazz University (SJU) in Siena, Tuscany, where he studied jazz for another three years. After graduating in SJU in 2017 he started planning a trip to the USA. In January 2018 he flew to New York where he stayed for 4 months as a visitor. During this time in NY he had the opportunity to study with many great musicians like Mike Stern, Lage Lund, Mike Moreno, Gilad Hekselman, Wayne Krantz, Peter Bernstein and David Binney.
